We are starting 2021 strong by welcoming 13 students from Høgskolen Kristiania. In the next 5 months, these students will be writing their final bachelor project and solving industry problems working closely with us. Before we can reveal the projects and the companies they will be working with, we want you to meet our brave new arrivals, 3 student groups: Nerd Face ?, Space Invader ? and Race Horse ?.

Nerd Face ?

Why did you choose Shortcut for your final bachelor project?

As a group, we wanted to participate in a project that has a positive effect on people. To work with some of the best people within their field in Norway, is something we wanted from the beginning.

What are you most excited about?

We are excited to work on a project where we can learn to cooperate, communicate and develop cutting-edge technology for Shortcut.

Short bio: After studying for a few years in Bergen, I have now found a study that I think is really interesting and that I am passionate about here in my hometown Oslo.

Technology has always been an exciting field and I spend a lot of my time outside my studies to motivate younger girls to explore the world of technology and the possibilities of an education in technology.

Favorite saying: “I have never tried that before, so I think I should definitely be able to do that.” -Astrid Lindgren, Pippi Longstocking

Short bio: Tech loving football player that tries to learn as much as possible. For the last months I’ve been CEO of the small tech firm Regap AS.

Motto: “The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are”

Short bio: I was born and raised in Stavanger with my two sisters. After high school I moved to Paris to learn French attending Sorbonne University. This was a huge cultural learning experience while learning their language. I have always been interested in traveling and experiencing new things. I’ve lived four years in the US taking care of children as well as studying fashion, design and merchandising and interaction design.

Favorite saying: “Every journey begins with the first step.”

Short bio: I’m a 26 year old man who lives in Stokke, Vestfold. I moved here from Oslo last year and with me I brought my wife and our two kids(3 and < 1). I must admit that I do miss the occasional beer, and/or hangouts with friends that the city life would offer.

Favorite saying: I don’t have a motto or favorite saying, but my favorite/most frequent topics of discussion would be the following: Diapers, How to deal with temper tantrums and sleep schedules. Very exciting!

Space Invader ?

Tell us a little bit about your team, personalities and strengths

We are a team of five students that majors in Frontend and mobile development and Interaction design. We each have our strengths within our respective fields but we also have traits that compliments each other. Our strengths are coding, design, teamwork and communication. We are a social group with open and welcoming people.

Why did you choose Shortcut for your final bachelor project?

We chose Shortcut because we wanted to design and develop an app, and we wanted to be a part of the good environment Shortcut has. We have become a little familiar with Shortcut through Arun and Imran (from Shortcut) who taught us Android development, and a couple from our group were also at Shortcut in our Agile Project before the summer. These two experiences were very positive and we want to be a part of the good environment and expertise that Shortcut has, we want to learn from the best. It also seems that Shortcut has a culture where everyone is included and works in teams, and where everyone helps each other with what is needed. This is something we want to be a part of when we write the Bachelor assignment.

Tell us a little bit about your team, personalities and strengths?

Our team consists of four frontend-developers and one UI/UX designer. Although most of us study the same subjects, we excel at and prefer different parts of the developmental process – complementing each other’s skills. Where Guro and Amalie prefer some of the more architectural work, Ida and Ole Jørgen prefer building and designing user interfaces. We do however share a common passion for concept building and user involvement, in which our biggest strengths lie. We find a lot of joy and fulfillment in creating products that have meaning for the potential users, always considering the ethics of development. We can discuss the last mentioned subject for hours on end, and generally have a lot of fun working together.

Why did you choose Shortcut?

We had heard a lot of great things about Shortcut. After a couple of digital meetings and some further digging, we were left with a great overall impression and were positive that this could be a good match. Many cool clients and projects, a young and forward-leaning work environment, and experience from the consulting industry, were some of the reasons why we choose Shortcut.

What are you most excited about?

We are most excited about working on a real life project and gaining industry experience – watching how the pro’s do it 🙂 Definitely looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish in collaboration with Shortcut.
